Macarthur FC is delighted to announce defender James Meredith has joined the Bulls for the clubs inaugural campaign in the 2020/21 A-League competition.

The 32-year-old spent the past 15 years plying his trade in England, after being scouted to Derby County as a 16-year-old.

The 6-foot-1 left-back had amassed 223 career matches with League One outfit Bradford City, before stints with Championship side Millwall FC and York City, returning to Australian shores at the end of 2019 signing with Perth Glory.

Meredith has also represented the national team on two occasions under Ange Postecoglou against Kyrgyzstan and Bangladesh during Australia’s 2015 World Cup Qualification campaign.

“I know Millsy and Ivan Franjic quite well. Speaking with them about the club, I’m excited to be part of the inaugural squad. I’ve worked with Ante previously; he is a great coach.” Meredith said.

It’s an exciting time for the area, and there is a lot of buzz from the fans keen to support the team. I’m looking forward to the new challenge.” Meredith added.

Macarthur FC Head Coach Ante Milicic said Meredith will bring further experience to the club.

“James is an experienced player having played in the Championship and League One in England for many years.”

“He is someone who can assist some of the younger players in our squad and strengthen the depth in our defensive line.” Milicic said.

Macarthur FC open the 2020/21 A-League season against Western Sydney Wanderers at Bankwest Stadium on December 27.
