As the Bulls look for a club record 4 straight wins against Brisbane Roar on Friday night, Milicic said he has been delighted with the progress his team had made during the opening half of the season.

“The main thing is the performance. It’s still a work in progress and understanding player strengths is key, however when you are winning, it builds confidence and the players enjoy their football. I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made in the last month.”

With 8 wins, 2 draws and 5 defeats this season, having already secured maximum points over Wellington Phoenix, Western United and Perth Glory in recent weeks, Milicic said it’s a continuous process, but have already achieved some goals.

“We wanted to be the new team in the league that’s competitive and I believe we’ve done that.”

“The group of players we have at this football club have extremely high standards. We know we need to continuously work hard to achieve that benchmark and that is something the players have been strong and vocal with.”

Claiming a 2-0 victory over the Roar last time these two teams met in match week 7, Milicic acknowledged Friday’s match would be a difficult assignment.

“We’re in a good frame of mind now we’re back at home. We are playing an impressive Brisbane side who created their fair share of clear cut chances against the Wanderers last weekend. They were unlucky not to get more from that game. They’ve got a lot of mobility; we know it’ll be a difficult game.”

“I’ve been pleased with the way we have controlled the games and limited the chances of our opponents recently.”

“We’ve got a lot of areas to work on. It’s been a good few weeks for us, but we need to build on that platform if we want to continue picking up results.” Milicic said.
