Bulls boost defence with the signing of Aspropotamitis

Macarthur FC is delighted to confirm defender Jonathan Aspropotamitis has signed with the club for the upcoming 2022/23 Isuzu Ute A-League season.

The 26-year-old has amassed 95 A-League appearances and showed impressive performances in the AFC Champions League where he featured in 9 matches for Perth Glory in 2020 and Wanderers in 2015 and 2017.

Aspropotamitis made his professional debut in March 2015 for the Western Sydney Wanderers with his talent on the pitch securing him his first professional senior contract later that year.

Since his debut in the A-League, he went on to make his Asian Champions League debut and continued to show notable work on the pitch. The young defender joins the Bulls from Perth Glory where he scored the club’s first ever goal in the AFC Asian Champions League making history for the club.

His remarkable talent was noticed on an international scale in 2018 where he was named in the Australian U23 side for a camp to prepare for the 2018 AFC U23 Asian Cup. He played in all 3 games, captaining his country, and voted Man of the Match by the AFC in the first match and scoring a goal in the final match.

Jonathan Aspropotamitis is excited to be at the club and is looking forward to work with new Head Coach Dwight Yorke.

“The Bulls are a relatively new club and I’ve been part of new clubs before and there is that exciting feeling about it which I like. With the new coach and some new players, I think the squad is coming together nicely, it’s exciting to be here.

“I’m thrilled we get to get back into things next week at training. I’m feeling refreshed from the off season, it was a tough season for everyone, and I think now we’ve had that break, a lot of the players, including myself will be looking forward to get into training and prepared for upcoming games,” said Aspropotamitis.
