Bulls sign American striker

The Bulls have boosted their attacking stocks with the signing of American striker Jason Romero from NPL NSW club APIA Leichhardt.

The transfer of the 28-year-old American was finalised this week, paving the way for Romero to make his first steps into the A-League after spending the past two years playing in the NPL NSW.

The Californian enjoyed prolific spells at APIA Leichhardt and St George, including a blistering start to the 2023 season where he found the net four times in just three games. In the NPL NSW, he caught the eye of Bulls head coach Mile Sterjovski and impressed in a trial to earn a contract for the remainder of the season.

“I have watched him play over the last couple of years in the NPL and he’s been a very dangerous and prolific goal scorer,” Sterjovski said. “We hope that he can add some firepower to our attack.”

Before moving to Australia in 2021, Romero enjoyed stints in Sweden with Umea and Nykoping having started his career in his homeland with FC Tucson.

“I am really thankful for the opportunity that the Bulls and Mile have given me to have a crack at the A-League. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to play top tier football,” Romero said. “I am really looking forward to joining the squad and helping the Bulls reach the goal of playing in the finals. I want to give everything I have to this club.”

Romero will be eligible to make his debut on Sunday afternoon when the Bulls host Brisbane Roar at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
