Bulls sign goalkeeper Nizic

Goalkeeper Danijel Nizic has joined the Bulls to strengthen the club’s stocks between the posts for the 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League season, signing a one-year deal with the South West Sydney club.

The 28-year-old moves to Macarthur FC after three successful seasons with NPL NSW club Sydney United 58, with whom he won the title with in 2020 and guided the club to the 2022 Australia Cup final. One of the exceptional performers in that campaign, Nizic saved a penalty in the semi-final and was heroic in an earlier shoot-out against Western United to help Sydney United become the first NPL side to reach the competition’s decider, which was won by Macarthur FC.

“Danijel has been a standout in the NPL NSW for the past three seasons and has worked hard to get this opportunity. He has proven his ability to get here and he is a player we believe can challenge here at the Bulls,” Bulls head coach Mile Sterjovski said.

A towering figure and impressive shot stopper, Nizic’s signing marks his return to the A-League after a three-year absence, having played for Western Sydney Wanderers. Prior to that, Nizic had spells in England with Morecambe, Crewe, Chorley and Workington after coming through the youth academy of English Premier League club, Burnley.

“I want to thank the club for giving me this opportunity, I am really excited to be here,” Nizic said. “I have worked hard for three years to have this opportunity. I am looking forward to getting to work and giving everything for this club and have a successful season.”

“It’s a great group here at the Bulls and I have felt welcomed immediately. Mile is a top coach and I’m excited about the project he is building here at the club this season.”
