The Macarthur Bulls are back in action this weekend, kicking off the 2026/27 Isuzu UTE A-League Men season against Perth Glory at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
After a lengthy pre-season, the Bulls return home with fresh faces, renewed determination and a new Head Coach at the helm. Ahead of his first competitive match in charge, Sasa Ognenovski spoke to the media about the team’s preparation, Saturday’s opponents and his message to Bulls fans.
With the season opener finally here, Ognenovski is excited to see his side put their hard work into action.
“We’ve been working hard for this, so it’s really exciting. The boys are excited that it’s finally starting. It’s a long pre-season in the A-League.”
“The boys have been amazing throughout pre-season. Their learning and work ethic have been at a really, really high level, so no concerns in that regard at all.”
Turning his attention to Saturday’s opponents, Ognenovski acknowledged the challenge Perth Glory will present but is looking forward to seeing how both sides match up when the action gets underway.
“We’ve seen a couple of their [Perth Glory] pre-season games, but they are pre-season games. So you look for patterns.”
“I know Griffo will have them pumped and ready to go and fit. So yeah, we’ll wait and see what they deliver.”
When asked which players had impressed him throughout pre-season, Ognenovski was quick to praise the entire squad, highlighting the collective effort that has gone into preparing for the season ahead.
“We don’t individualise anyone here. All the boys have been really, really strong in pre-season. They’ve all worked hard, and they’ve all done really well.”
With the season opener fast approaching, Ognenovski also had a special message for Bulls fans ahead of the club’s return to Campbelltown.
“Come and enjoy! We’re in the entertainment business, so hopefully we can put on a good show.”
The Bulls take on Perth Glory this Saturday, 17 October, at 5:00pm at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
