Match Week 11– Squad Ins and Outs: Central Coast Mariners v Macarthur FC

Milligan 150 Mariners

Macarthur FC head coach Ante Milicic has named his squad for Monday’s top of the table clash with the Central Coast Mariners in Gosford.

Meeting only once prior when the Mariners crashed the Bulls first home game celebrations with a 2-nil smash and grab in match week 2, both sides have begun to settle and find their rhythm in the competition.

Fresh off claiming retribution over Sydney FC last week with a 1-nil win, the Bulls will be looking to avenge the loss to the Mariners earlier in the season on Monday night.

Hollman Mariners Home

The Mariners have been the surprise packet of the 2020/21 season, flying high atop of the A-League ladder, while the Bulls currently sit second with 3 wins and a draw from their last 5 matches.

Addressing the media on Sunday morning, Macarthur FC head coach Ante Milicic said:

“Beating Sydney FC away from home will give any team confidence. We took a lot away from that, but we have a difficult match away against the mariners so we will need to focus on them.”

“Kuol has been excellent for the Mariners. They have a lot of attacking threats with Ureña, Matt Simon and Kuol – They have all been excellent. They are full of confidence and very good from set pieces. It’s up to us to execute our defensive roles on these players.”

Milligan Mariners Home

Speaking about captain Mark Milligan’s 150th A-League appearance on Monday night, Milicic said:

“When you’re building a new club, you need good characters and a lot of leadership. I was fortunate I went to two World Cups with Millsy, so I know what he brings on and off the field. We have a lot of younger guys here who he really guides around the dressing room and on the pitch.”

Speaking ahead of the milestone match, captain Mark Milligan said:

“I’m excited. It’s a nice milestone, but more importantly it’s a very big match for us. Central Coast have been outstanding so far and it’s going to be a big challenge.”

“We had a disappointing result last time we played them, but we’ve done some work on that this week. We need a good positive performance and hopefully take the 3 points.”
