Match Week 3 – Squad Ins and Outs: Bulls v Wellington Phoenix

Moudi Najjar

Macarthur FC head coach Ante Milicic has confirmed his A-League squad for Saturday’s home match against Wellington Phoenix at Campbelltown Stadium.

With the Bulls looking to bounce back after last weekend’s home defeat against the Central Coast Mariners, Milicic has announced just one change to last week’s squad with James Meredith available for selection.

During Friday’s press conference Milicic was asked how the boys responded to last weekend’s loss against the Mariners.

“The boys have responded really well. On the training ground and in the video review, discussions with the group have been very positive.”

“Hopefully, we’ve learnt from the lessons from the defeat against the mariners and put in a good performance against Wellington.”

“In terms of adjusting the game plan, what we need to focus on is getting better at our game.”

“We know we are playing a team that is very well organised, and very dangerous, in transition moments.”

“When we played them during pre-season, it was a difficult game. We identified some areas for us to work on, so hopefully we can execute those plans during the match.”

When asked about finishing off chances and goal scoring moments Milicic said.

“Matt Derbyshire has fitted in really well to the style we want to play. I don’t think he receives the credit he deserves, he does a lot of work off the ball, but I don’t believe we as a team, have done enough to provide the quality service for him to finish.”

“We had a good turn out last week, but we disappointed our members and supporters, hopefully we put on a good performance against Phoenix.” Milicic said.

The starting XI will be announced 60 minutes before kick-off.
