NPL NSW Wrap Up

Last weekend’s NPL NSW matches are done and dusted!

The Boys teams had a great weekend with the U13s, U15s, U16s and U18s walking away with points. The U14s, U15s and U18s secured three more points on Sunday, after defeating Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC at Northbridge Oval. Unfortunately, the U16s were defeated by Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC.

The Men’s teams had another tough weekend, after coming up against Sutherland Sharks FC at Sydney United Sports Centre. The first 10 minutes were quiet, but both teams were fighting at a chance at goal. Unfortunately, it was Sutherland Sharks who managed to capitalise on their chance at goal after Jesse Photi opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. However, the Bulls fought back. Rhys Youlley secured an equaliser for the Bulls in the 45th minute, after lining up a beautiful shot from the edge of the box. The second half saw many chances from both teams, with Ali Auglah having some fantastic chances to steal the win for the Bulls. Unfortunately, the Bulls were unable to claim the lead. In the 87th minute Sutherland Sharks were able to slip past the Bulls defences and secure the winner, defeating the Bulls 1 – 2. The U20s were also defeated by Sutherland Sharks, losing 1 – 3 at Sydney United Sports Centre.

The Girls teams were unfortunately defeated by Manly United on Sunday at Cromer Park.

The First Grade Women’s team shared the points with Manly United on Sunday. The Match of the Round was one that was filled with action, with both teams having some fantastic chances at goal throughout the 90 minutes. It was Trudy Simmons who was the true hero on Sunday, smothering Manly United’s chances left and right. The first half saw many shots on goal but neither team were able to break the deadlock and open the scoring. The second half continued in a very similar fashion, until the 90th minute where Manly United were awarded a penalty against the Bulls. Trudy Simmons showed her expertise, saving Manly’s penalty and keeping the score 0 – 0. Both teams were unable to secure the lead and shared the points at Cromer Park. The Reserves had another fantastic afternoon after defeating Manly United. Phoebe Handcock opened the scoring in the 4th minute and Cate Gyzen secured it for the Bulls in the 52nd minute, after they were reduced to 10 men, with Angelina Manos being sent off in the 22nd minute.
