NPL NSW Wrap Up

A clean sweep of wins from the Bulls FC Academy Boys teams rounded off the weekend’s action, which saw many exciting match-ups across the grades.

Our Boys teams ended the weekend on a high, after every team took home three points against Mounties Wanderers FC on Sunday. These wins pushed both the U13s and the U15s to the top of their ladders and placed the U18s third.

Despite the First Grade Men’s team’s courageous efforts, they were unable to overcome the Mount Druitt Rangers on Saturday.

The Rangers opened the scoring at Popondetta Park after chipping away at the Bulls defences. However, in the 25th minute the Bulls fought back, as Jesper Webber skilfully passed the ball to Mason Wells, who calmly found the back of the net.

A red card for Mount Druitt in the 37th minute saw a chance for the Bulls, with Jesper Webber running up the right-hand side to take a shot but was caught by the Rangers’ keeper. The Bulls continued to fight throughout the remaining minutes, with Alexander Robinson producing some fantastic saves to keep the score level.

The second half saw some more spectacular saves from Alexander Robinson. Unfortunately, a red card for the Bulls in the 82nd minute tipped the scales in favour for the Mount Druitt Rangers. A goal for the Rangers in the dying minutes of the match saw the Bulls’ heroic efforts come to an end. Ending the match 2 – 1 on Saturday.

The U20s had another exhilarating match that ended in a 2 – 2 draw with the Mount Druitt Rangers. The Rangers opened the scoring in the second half, but two goals from Mabior Garang placed the Bulls in the lead. Unfortunately, they were unable to hold on to their lead, conceding in the 82nd minute, ending the match in a draw.

The U18s Girls collected three points against NWS Spirit on Sunday with a 3 – 6 win at Christie Park. Despite putting up a strong fight, the U14s, U15s, and U16s were unfortunately defeated by NWS Spirit.

The First Grade Women’s team fought hard on Saturday but were unfortunately defeated by NWS Spirit FC.

The first 20 minutes saw some fantastic chances for the Bulls, but they were unable to break free from NWS Spirit’s defences. A penalty for NWS Spirit in the 22nd saw them gain the lead but the Bulls fought back. NWS Spirit collected another goal in the 23rd minute after managing to slip past the Bulls defences. The first half concluded with remarkable saves from Trudy Simmons and an exciting chance at goal from Charlotte Lancaster.

NWS Spirit added a third to their tally in the 53rd minute. The Bulls managed to pull one back when Avaani Prakash scored a well-executed volley into NWS Spirit’s net. However, this wasn’t enough, concluding the match with a 3-1 loss.

The Reserves also faced a defeat on Saturday, losing 3-2. Ciara Casamento and an own goal from NWS Spirit provided some hope for the Bulls, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory.
