Macarthur FC’s hunt for the finals continues on Saturday with Bulls coach Mile Sterjovski declaring a top six finish is firmly “within reach” ahead of this weekend’s trip to Perth.
The Bulls travel to the Glory seeking a win that could put the club level on sixth spot by the end of the weekend and position Macarthur in the box seat to make the A-League finals.
Confidence is growing within the Bulls claimed a brave point against runaway league leaders Melbourne City before the international break with the South Wets Sydney club seeking all three at the expense of the Glory.
“Finals are definitely within reach,” Sterjovski said. “We are only a couple of points out and every game from now until the end of the season is going to be huge for us. We are looking for a good performance and a big finish to the season.”
Sterjovski suffered one setback during the week, however, with Australian international forward Daniel Arzani ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury.
“Arzani is a huge injury blow for us,” Sterjovski said.
The 24-year-old underwent surgery on Thursday for his syndesmosis injury and is expected to return for before the start of next season. However, the timing has coincided with the expected return of striker Moudi Najjar who has overcome a thigh injury to take a spot on the plain to Perth, where he hopes to rekindle his earlier form where he scored two, provided another in three games.
“There are a few that are in contention. Moudi is back and in contention,” Sterjovski said.
The return of fellow striker Bachana Arabuli will have to wait another week at least with the Georgian striker hampered by a minor adductor injury.
