The Bulls’ unbeaten streak came to an end on a scorching night at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, falling 3–0 to local rivals Sydney FC.
With temperatures soaring, the Bulls were eager to turn up the heat against the Sky Blues in what was a significant fixture, the Club’s annual Sony Foundation Round, held in support of the charitable arm of the Sony Group.
A percentage of every jersey sold on the night will be donated to Sony Foundation, with match-worn and match-issued jerseys also up for auction. All proceeds will go towards funding Sony Foundation’s disability camps, known as Sony Camps. You can bid on your favourite player’s jersey here
The Bulls started cautiously, sitting deep and absorbing early pressure from Sydney FC. Chances were limited in the opening stages, though Kristian Popovic went close early on, forcing a save from Devenish-Meares. Bernardo also threatened with a promising effort, but his shot lacked the curl needed to find the back of the net.
Despite patiently waiting for an opening, it was Sydney FC who struck first, opening the scoring in the 31st minute. The Bulls headed into the break trailing by a goal.
The second half saw a more energised Bulls outfit, with substitutions injecting fresh legs into the contest. However, the Sky Blues proved difficult to contain, doubling their lead in the 48th minute before adding a third in the 62nd.
The Bulls continued to push in search of a breakthrough, but time ultimately worked against them. The match concluded in a 3–0 defeat, bringing the Bulls’ unbeaten run to a close.
