It was an absolute goalfest at Campbelltown Sports Stadium as the Bulls powered past Melbourne City with a dominant 6–2 victory.
On a picturesque night in south-west Sydney, the Bulls were ready and raring to go against City. The occasion was made even more special as the club’s beloved mascot, Arthur, celebrated his fifth birthday alongside his friends in front of a buzzing home crowd.
With the match a must-win, the Bulls brought the energy from the opening whistle. Mitchell Duke made his first home start for the club, and his impact was immediate. Just six minutes in, Duke opened the scoring with a well-taken header, marking his debut Bulls goal in style.
Only three minutes later, captain Luke Brattan doubled the lead with an absolute screamer from distance, catching City goalkeeper Patrick Beach off his line. City responded in the 24th minute through Memeti, but the Bulls hit back ten minutes later when Anthony Caceres danced past three City defenders before burying the ball into the back of the net.
The Bulls took their advantage into the sheds, eager to keep the pressure on after the break. While the team regrouped, Arthur and his mascot friends entertained the crowd with a lively game of Mascot Musical Chairs, drawing plenty of laughs and cheers from the stands.
The Bulls returned for an exciting second half, with Luke Vickery making an immediate impact. The substitute wasted no time, scoring the Bulls’ fourth in the 62nd minute and catching City’s defence off guard.
Harrison Sawyer came close soon after, only to be denied by VAR for handball. Dean Bosnjak then added his name to the scoresheet, making a brilliant impact off the bench by scoring just eight minutes after Vickery, weaving through City’s defence before finishing clinically. City managed to pull one back in the 84th minute, but the Bulls weren’t done yet.
Deep into stoppage time, Sawyer finally found his moment, rising to meet a cross and nodding home a well-placed header in the 93rd minute to cap off a stunning night.
The Bulls ran out 6–2 winners, securing a vital three points and moving up to third on the ladder.
