The Bulls returned from South Australia with a hard-earned point, sharing the spoils in a 1–1 draw against Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium.
Back on the road, the Bulls faced the Reds for the first time this season under blazing Adelaide heat. Despite the conditions, they started brightly and took the game to the hosts from the opening whistle.
The visitors began the match on the front foot, with Luke Vickery, Sime Grzan and Callum Talbot all creating promising opportunities. Vickery sparked the action early in the sixth minute, making a blistering run before unleashing a powerful strike that was well saved by Adelaide’s keeper.
Grzan continued to threaten throughout the half but was unable to find the breakthrough. Adelaide opened the scoring in the 37th minute through Jonny Yull, before Talbot responded moments later with a long-range effort that narrowly missed the target.
Trailing at the break, the Bulls emerged from the sheds determined to turn the contest around.
That intent was rewarded early in the second half. Chris Ikonomidis entered the match from the bench, replacing Grzan, and made an immediate impact. Just 15 seconds after coming on, Ikonomidis found the back of the net, finishing clinically after a pinpoint pass from Vickery to level the score.
The Bulls pushed hard in search of a winner, with Ikonomidis and Anthony Caceres both testing the Adelaide defence. At the other end, Kurto produced a series of outstanding saves to keep the Bulls in the contest and deny the hosts a late winner.
Neither side could find a decisive goal in the closing stages, with the match ending 1–1 and the Bulls leaving Adelaide with a valuable point.
