Macarthur Bulls FC can confirm that Damien Da Silva will play his final game on Friday, 24 April against Wellington Phoenix, as he steps away from professional football.
Da Silva joined the Bulls for the 2025/26 season with an impressive résumé, having played for French clubs such as Olympique Lyonnais, Clermont Foot and FC Rouen 1899. He also won the 2019 Coupe de France with Stade Rennais FC and had a stint in the A-League with Melbourne Victory.
Over the course of his career, Da Silva has made 565 professional appearances, scoring 23 goals and recording 10 assists. Having faced world-class players such as Neymar, Messi and Mbappe, his experience on the pitch speaks for itself.
Off the pitch, he quickly became a fan favourite among the Bulls, regularly appearing at community events across South West Sydney.
Speaking on his retirement, Da Silva said:
“I’m proud about what I did. It was difficult, but I fought every day to realise my dream. It was a very good experience to do this job.”
“It’s emotional, because it’s a big moment, because you think about the past, what you did, and you think about the long way and how difficult it was.”
“I’m very emotional, but in the end I’m very happy, because I feel lucky to have the opportunity to make my dream come true. I feel very happy now and I feel confident for the future as well, because it’s important.”
“I want to say thank you to Macarthur for giving me the opportunity to finish here, I wish the best for the club, for the future.”
“I finished with a good team, good guys and a family club. So, I’m very happy to be here today.”
Thank you, Damien, and best of luck for the future!
