It’s the final match of the 2025/26 season for the Bulls, and the squad is getting ready to put on a show for the Campbelltown Community Round against Wellington Phoenix on Friday 24 April.
Ahead of the clash, Bulls midfielder Anthony Caceres spoke to the media about the season.
It’s been a tough ride for the Bulls in the fight for a spot in the finals, with highs against Auckland FC and Newcastle Jets, and lows against Perth Glory and Adelaide United. Despite fighting tooth and nail for a place in the top six, the Bulls ultimately just miss out on finals football. Caceres noted the disappointment within the squad.
“We obviously won a respectable finish to the year. For the most part, we were competing and there was a time there that it looked quite promising for us.
I think, unfortunately, after the ACL, getting knocked out of that, it was quite deflating and probably had a negative impact on the group and struggled to bounce back after that.”
It’s shaping up to be a great clash against Wellington Phoenix, with Caceres saying their opponents on Friday won’t back down from a fight, but the Bulls are ready to put on a show for the fans.
“It’s a tough game. They’re on the ascendancy, albeit quite late in the year. But they do have experienced players, some real quality in their side and it’s going to make for a good game.”
“Players are playing for their futures as well at this point. People are trying to prove themselves for next season, whether that’s to remain at their clubs or go elsewhere. So, there’s still plenty to play for, for both sides.”
The end of the season marks the Campbelltown Community Round, where Campbelltown City Council residents have access to free tickets to the Bulls’ clash against Wellington Phoenix. Living in the Campbelltown area, Caceres is excited to see new and familiar faces at the stadium on Friday.
“Everyone enjoys their football. It would be great to get families and kids down there to watch some A-League football.”
“It’s important that the game grows, particularly in the region we’re in. It’s an area with huge potential, given that we reside quite close to Campbelltown Stadium, we’re familiar with the area.”
“I’ll have a lot of family and friends coming down to watch the game, so it’ll be great to see some familiar faces and bring in new faces also to the league.”
“I just hope to see as many people there as possible. As always, we’ll give our all, despite the circumstances that we’re in at the moment, and hopefully put on a show to entertain the fans.”
