‘Quality’: Bulls sign NZ international until 2025

Macarthur FC boosted their midfield stocks for the next two seasons after signing impressive New Zealand international, Clayton Lewis.

A composed mover of the ball and deadly from set pieces, the arrival of the 26-year-old has been praised a “valuable” signing by Bulls coach Mile Sterjovski who was delighted to have secured the All Whites midfielder until June 2025.

“Clayton is an international who brings in quality and experience. He has good passing range and can give us great deliveries with set pieces,” Sterjovski said. “With a good preseason ahead, I can see him being a valuable member of the squad.”

Lewis will arrive in South West Sydney ahead of the start of the 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League season after spending the last three years with Wellington Phoenix where he established himself as a regular starter in the first team.

Previously, Lewis had spells with English club Scunthorpe United in League One as well as Auckland City where he won eight trophies, including two Oceania Champions League titles. Lewis will add significant international experience to the Bulls ranks having made 23 appearances for New Zealand, having found the back of the net once for his country.
