Bulls Exit the Cup

A bright Sunday afternoon in Maitland ended in disappointment for Macarthur, as the Bulls bowed out of the 2025 Hahn Australia Cup.

After a week of rain, the sun broke through to set the stage for a Quarter Final clash against fellow A-League side Newcastle Jets.

The Bulls began with their familiar approach, soaking up pressure and looking for the chance to strike. Newcastle struck first in the 17th minute through Max Burgess, but the Bulls kept their composure and looked determined to respond.

Despite their efforts, the Bulls couldn’t find a way through before half-time and went into the break trailing 1–0.

The second half saw a more aggressive Bulls side, with Harry Sawyer going close with a header, and Ji Dong-won and Šime Gržan making their long-awaited debuts to inject fresh energy into the attack.

However, the Jets capitalised on their chances, scoring twice in four minutes to put the result beyond reach. Despite continuing to push until the final whistle, the Bulls were unable to convert their opportunities, ending their 2025 Hahn Australia Cup journey.

While the Cup run has come to an end, the season is only just beginning. The Bulls return to action on 18 September, kicking off their AFC Champions League Two campaign against Tai Po FC at Mong Kok Stadium, Hong Kong.
