A warm Sunday evening ended in disappointment for the Bulls, who were defeated by Perth Glory at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
Fresh off a midweek win over Tai Po FC in the ACL2, the Bulls came into the match energised and eager to keep their momentum going. Although the temperature was easing, the Bulls were just heating up as they returned to league action.
The first half saw the Bulls control large patches of play with Luke Brattan and Anthony Caceres steering the midfield. Clear-cut chances were limited but the side continued to edge closer to breaking the deadlock. At the other end, Filip Kurto delivered a standout opening half, pulling off several crucial saves to keep the match level heading into the break.
The second half proved frustrating for the home side. Despite creating multiple opportunities, the Bulls couldn’t convert, and Perth opened the scoring in the 66th minute before doubling their lead in the 88th. A bright moment came with the long-awaited return of Kristian Popovic, 582 days after his last appearance, taking the field in front of his father, Tony Popovic.
The Bulls pressed hard to claw a goal back but time wasn’t on their side, ultimately falling 0–2 to Perth Glory.
Missed the action? Don’t worry, the Bulls are back this Friday in a blockbuster clash against Melbourne Victory.
