It was a tough night for the Bulls at AAMI Park as they fell 2-0 to Melbourne City on Friday evening.
The first half saw the Bulls stick to their familiar strategy of absorbing pressure while waiting for the right moment to strike. Goalkeeper Filip Kurto was in fine form, making several brilliant saves, while Tomislav Uskok delivered crucial clearances to keep City at bay.
Saif-Eddine Khaoui made his starting debut and wasted no time making an impact, creating two promising chances but failing to convert. City eventually broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute, but the Bulls responded with determination. Marin Jakoliš came closest to equalising, his header rattling off the post just before the break.
Trailing by a single goal at halftime, the Bulls came out strong in search of an equaliser. Jakoliš continued to push forward with several attempts on goal, but City’s defence held firm. In the 73rd minute, Melbourne City doubled their lead after being awarded a penalty following a handball by Uskok inside the box.
Despite their efforts until the final whistle, the Bulls were unable to claw their way back, falling 2-0 to City.
