Article by Macarthur Bulls Junior Reporter, Xavier ROWE
The crowd started to pour through the gates, eager excitement filled the air from fans expecting a strong showing from the Bulls against a team they held a good record against, including round one of the 24/25 season where our Bulls beat the Glory 6-1 at home.
Supporters lined up patiently for supporter gear and even some of the littler ones for face paint! When I interviewed fans in the precinct, there were score predictions of 2-1, 4-0, and 2-0, which were all in favour of the Bulls.
I got a few to tell me their favourite players; popular ones included Harry Sawyer and Filip Kurto, and a fan even said if they played for the Bulls, they would play striker! For the first half of the game, the Bulls’ defence held strong, and it became clear the game against Perth was going to be a tough one.
Some close calls with Kurto and the Bulls’ backline doing their best to keep the energised Perth team from scoring. In the second half, the Bulls got more of the ball and Macarthur found some shots at goal.

The ball just didn’t go in the back of the net. Poor attack proved costly, as Nicholas Pennington converted an opportunity for the Glory in the 66th minute. Late in the game, the Glory scored a goal which killed the Bulls’ chances of making a late comeback.
There were positives to take from the game as Kristian Popovic successfully came back from injury after 582 days off the field. On top of that, Macarthur FC created more chances in the second half than they did in the first. In the press conference, our coach Mile Sterjovski was disappointed.
He said that the team delivered a lacklustre performance. When I spoke to Anthony Caceres about the next game against Melbourne Victory, he was hopeful and confident that the team can deliver a strong performance. I am looking forward to this Friday’s game against
Melbourne Victory and hope that with only one game this week the Bulls can bring plenty of energy to get the win for their home fans.
