Bulls secure a big win in Bangkok

The Bulls are one step closer to the AFC Cup knock-out stages after they pocketed three points against Shan United in Bangkok.

Even with lacking key players such as Ulises Davila and Raphael Borges Rodrigues, the Bulls were determined to fight for their spot in the knock-out stages of the AFC Cup tournament.

The match started off slow, with the Bulls battling through Shan United’s defences and the Thai heat. The first half saw limited but fantastic chances from the Bulls, with Daniel De Silva weaving his way through Shan United’s defences and crossing the ball to Matthew Millar and Valere Germain. Unfortunately, the Bulls weren’t able to break through the deadlock in the first half, entering half-time with a 0 – 0 scoreline.

The second half saw the Bulls really shine. Just 41 seconds into the first half, De Silva seized a perfect opportunity from Germain’s assist and volleyed the ball into the back of the net. The goal was a breath of fresh air, with Jake Hollman doubling the lead shortly after. Hollman was cool, calm and collected, slotting the ball past Shan United’s keeper after Germain’s shot was deflected off of a Shan United defender.

Tomislav Uskok made it three in the 63rd minute, headering the ball into the net after Clayton Lewis delivered a beautiful corner to the back post.

Jerry Skotadis, Charles M’Mombwa, Ali Auglah, Jesper Webber and Oliver Jones were all subbed on during the second half, adding a fresh set of legs to the squad. Shan United tried to fight back but the Bulls were ready. Kurto made a fantastic save, denying Shan United’s shot at goal.

Jerry Skotadis tied up the match after securing his first goal for the Bulls in the 90th minute. With the perfect assist from Hollman, Skotadis slipped through Shan United’s defences and fired the ball into the back of the net.
