Promising youngster Jed Drew has committed his future to the Bulls, signing a long-term contract that keeps him in South West Sydney for another two seasons.
The 19-year-old winger signed his first full-time A-League contract this week, extending his stay with Macarthur FC until the end of the 2024/25 A-League season.
A product of the club’s youth side, Bulls FC Academy, Drew has enjoyed a break-out season in the A-League making 14 appearances, starting in four games and scoring twice to earn a new contract and a call-up to the Young Socceroos’ U-20 Asian Cup squad this week.
“Jed deserves that,” Macarthur FC head coach Mile Sterjovski said. “Being called up to the Young Socceroos is another positive for him and the club. He’s doing things the right way and hopefully his career can continue that way.”
Drew says the decision to remain a Bull was one he didn’t have to dwell on, jumping at the opportunity to remain with the club that gave him his start in the A-League.
“Just knowing the club backs me to give me a new contract full-time and to be picked for the Young Socceroos a couple of days ago has been the best week of my life to be honest,” Drew said. “Mile was really pushing me to get up to this level this year and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
Drew has come through the club’s youth ranks which has already seen six players promoted to the A-League squad.
“Jed has come through our Bulls FC Academy and we are very pleased with his progress. We look forward to his development continuing with the club,” Macarthur chief executive Sam Krslovic said.
