After an extremely successful 2020, Macarthur FC, the A-League’s newest club, have launched the second season of their community-building program Macarthur Square Bulls in Schools, which promotes school health and wellness for students through football.
The program’s first season in 2020 saw more than 13,000 students across 30 primary and secondary schools in South West Sydney – including Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly, and Southern Highlands – go through the program with the help of professional football community coaches.
Highlighting the diversity in the Macarthur and south-west Sydney region, the Macarthur Square Bulls in Schools program reached almost 1000 local indigenous students, whilst 32 % of participating students speak English as a second language.
Sponsored by Macarthur Square, the Bulls in Schools program provides students with a free, active and educational program that focuses on teamwork, communication, physical movement and promoting a healthy lifestyle through football.

“2020 was an extremely challenging year for everyone. We had to rethink and design the program to suit the restrictions with schools and interacting with the students.
“Across all the schools the overwhelming response was extremely positive. The students and teachers found the sessions very fun and engaging.
“This year we are aiming to reach an additional 20 schools and more than 20,000 local school children participating in the program.”
