Tomi Uskok: “If we play at that level, we can win a lot of games.”
It’s set to be a true Western showdown as the Bulls take on West Melbourne’s Western United in Sydney’s South West! Ahead of the clash at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, defender Tomi Uskok reflected on the team’s recent loss to Auckland FC in New Zealand and how they plan to bounce back.
“Trying to rectify those errors that we made—such minor details—but against quality sides, they punish you,” Uskok said. “So we’re looking to correct that and bring that energy and performance back.”
“If we play at that level, we can win a lot of games.”
Recent weeks have seen several changes to the squad, with Jed Drew, Oliver Jones, and Ariath Piol pursuing opportunities overseas. In response, the Bulls have moved quickly to bring in reinforcements, securing signings such as Peter Makrillos, Saîf-Eddine Khaoui, and Kevin Boli. Uskok spoke about how the team is handling this transition.
“It all happened really quickly, losing a lot of the boys, but the club acted fast to bring in reinforcements and new faces to help,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to them joining. We are a bit short, especially with some of the young boys heading off with the Young Socceroos, but we’re reinforced now and ready to go.”
“It’s great to have these new players come in with the level of experience and quality they bring.”
On his role in the Starting XI, Uskok emphasised the importance of patience and hard work.
“That’s football. You’ve just got to bide your time, work hard on the training pitch, and support the boys when you’re not playing.”
Looking ahead to the home clash against Western United, Uskok is prepared for whatever challenges they bring. Confident in the team’s standing on the league ladder, he stressed the importance of winning home fixtures.
“At home, we have to win these games—it’s so important,” he said. “It helps us build momentum for the rest of the year.”
Players to Watch
Walter Scott: Back with the Bulls after a stint in the NPL, Walter Scott has already made his mark on the A-Leagues. A dynamic presence on the flanks, he’s always in the right place at the right time. Keep an eye on him in our match against Western United—if you can keep up!
Harrison Sawyer: At 195cm, you’d think Harrison Sawyer would be hard to miss—but he has a knack for flying under the radar of opposition defences. Whether he’s rising above everyone in set pieces or supporting his teammates on and off the pitch, Sawyer is one to watch. Don’t lose sight of him this Sunday!
