Valere Germain: ‘We Have A Good Chance’

Before the Bulls jet off to face Auckland FC, captain Valère Germain shared his thoughts on the season so far and the team’s expectations moving forward. Reflecting on the recent victory against Melbourne City, Germain expressed confidence in his squad’s performance.

“We played against Melbourne City with a very good team and we didn’t concede any goals so we are confident with all the players in the changing room.”

The captain also acknowledged the impact of the January transfer window, highlighting his pride in players like Jed Drew, Ariath Piol, and Oliver Jones for taking the next step in their careers with overseas opportunities.

“For them, they are young players, so it’s a good opportunity to take. For the club, it’s a big loss, but at least it’s a good opportunity for them.”

On a personal note, Germain spoke about his bond with Jed Drew, who recently secured a move to Europe.

“We had a good relationship off of the pitch as well as on the pitch. He gave me a lot of assists and everyday I try to speak to him to help him improve because I think he has a lot of quality.”

Looking ahead, Germain is confident the Bulls are finals contenders.

“I want to try to win something before the end of the season. We’ve already won the [Australia] Cup, but I think we are in a good position. The league is really close this season, so I think we can lose, but we can also beat everyone in the league. We have a good chance.”

As they prepare to face Auckland this weekend, Germain recognises the quality of their opposition but is confident the Bulls are ready for the challenge.

“They are consistent, they don’’t conceded a lot of goals but at the same time, when we played against them, we had the first opportunity to score. This time it should be different. We know we are a good team.”

“It will be a tough game for us, but as well as for them.”
