A commanding 4-0 win for the First Grade women’s team highlights the weekend’s results for the Bulls FC Academy, which enjoyed mixed results across the grades.
The First Grade Women’s thrashing of Blacktown Spartans at home puts the Bulls within touching distance of the top four with a dominant display that sent a warning shot to their league rivals.
Midfielder Avaani Prakash opened the scoring for the Bulls with a screamer from outside the box in the 22nd minute. Just five minutes later, Charlotte Lancaster doubled the lead for the Bulls with Prakash the provider, allowing Lancaster to slip through Blacktown’s defence to bury the ball into the back of the net.
The second half started off the same as the first and it wasn’t long before Claudia Valletta extended the lead. After a well-delivered corner from Lancaster, Valletta produced a fantastic header to add a third for the Bulls. A combined effort was a fitting finale for The Bulls with Peta Trimis and Tamires Souza combining for the latter to slot the ball into the back of the net. The Reserves lost 1-0 to Blacktown Spartans on Sunday.
The U16s Girls settled for a point against Blacktown Spartans on Sunday with a 2– 2 draw at Northbridge Oval. The U14s, U15s, and U16s fought hard on Sunday but they were unfortunately defeated by Blacktown Spartans on Sunday.
The First Grade Men’s team fought bravely but came undone against Central Coast Mariners on Sunday.
Winger Jesper Webber put the Bulls in front courtesy of an assist from Rhys Youlley, who played Webber through to calmly slot the ball past the Mariners’ goalkeeper in the 31st minute. The Bulls added a second five minutes later when forward Ali Auglah netted a stunning free-kick to double the lead.
Unfortunately, the Bulls were unable to hold off the Mariners and headed into the break with the score at 2-2. The second half saw a lot of chances at goal for the Bulls, but they were unable to break free from the draw. The Mariners managed to slip through the Bulls’ defences in the 73rd and 76th minutes, inflicting a 4-2 loss upon the Bulls.
The U20s delivered a thriller of a match that ended in a 4 – 4 draw with the Central Coast Mariners.
