Scott: ‘That’s Why We Play’

The Bulls mark their return home in 2026 with a blockbuster clash against New Zealand–based side Auckland FC, as the two teams meet for the first time at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Ahead of the encounter, Bulls defender Walter Scott spoke to the media about starting the year on the right foot and how the squad is preparing for a tough test against Auckland FC.

Reflecting on the Bulls’ first win of 2026, an away victory over the Western Sydney Wanderers, Scott said the group is eager to carry that momentum into their home return.

“We’re all really, really happy after the result. It was a really strong performance away from home and we’re really excited to keep that momentum going with the home match tomorrow.”

The Bulls also enjoyed a memorable result during the Christmas period, edging Newcastle Jets 5–4 at McDonald Jones Stadium. Looking back on that match, Scott said the win was a special moment for the squad.

“It was really special. It was good for myself to get back in the squad and get some minutes, and I hope Harry Politidis gets back from his injury quickly. Everyone on our team knows their job and does it really well.

“We’re really pumped after that one.”

Looking ahead to the return of Macarthur Mondays, Scott says they’re ready to face Auckland, welcoming them to Campbelltown Sports Stadium in style.

“They obviously have strong players. They’re well organised. But we definitely fancy ourselves.

And we’re, as you said, we’re in a really good moment. And we’re really pumped up. We can’t see anything but a win.”

“So we’re just super focused on that and what we can achieve. It’d be a good chance to knock off the side on the top of the table.”

With a demanding schedule ahead across the A-League and ACL2, Scott says the squad is embracing the challenge.

“We love it. We have the squad to do it. Everyone knows their job, knows their role.

“And when called upon, can deliver. We understand the strength of the whole squad and the trust we have in each other, so we’re raring to go for all those games.

“That’s what we love and that’s why we play.”
