“We are now the ones that people are trying to chase”

Just days after their trip to the Philippines to face Dynamic Herb Cebu FC in the AFC Cup tournament, the Bulls are gearing up for another challenge in round 8 of the Isuzu UTE A-League against Wellington Phoenix. Clayton Lewis opened up about the team’s dynamics and the preparations involved for Monday night’s clash.

Fresh off a significant victory against Sydney FC, securing the top position on the A-League ladder, and defeating Dynamic Herb Cebu FC to advance to the AFC Cup knockout stages in February 2024, , the Bulls are brimming with confidence heading into their Monday clash against Wellington Phoenix.

Clayton Lewis spoke about the fantastic result of the AFC Cup match against Cebu FC that took place late Thursday night in Manila, Philippines. “The boys did a good job over there; it’s always tough to play in Asia.”

“We know we needed a result and the boys got that done.”

Lewis also reflected on the Bulls’ performance during round 7 of the A-league, where they defeated rivals Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium to move to the top of the ladder. Lewis noted that it may not have been their best performance but they are the ones to beat. “We just need to keep pushing. I think the longer we can stay unbeaten the better.”

“It shows that we can still get it done when we are not playing our best. So hopefully come this Monday, we can get the job done against the Nix as well.”

Shifting focus to the Wellington Phoenix match on Monday, Lewis is looking forward to facing his former club. “I know I’ll probably get a few kicks here and there, I’ll give my fair share back and hopefully we can come away with a win.”

“I think it’s going to be important that we come out firing,” said Lewis in preparation for the match, “We’re at home, we can’t start slow.”

The Bulls are looking to continue their undefeated run on Monday, at Campbelltown Sports Stadium against Wellington Phoenix. Kick-Off is at 7 pm and tickets are still on sale! Secure your seats today.
