A Real Western Night Out Ends in a Stalemate

Sunday’s Real Western Night Out ended in a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Western United.

It was a perfect afternoon for football, and the Bulls were determined to come out on top. Harrison Sawyer made his first start for the team, while new signings Henrique Oliveira and Peter Makrillos were named on the bench.

The first half saw the Bulls stick to their tried-and-tested approach—absorbing pressure and waiting for the perfect moment to strike. However, it was Western United who opened the scoring in the 22nd minute.

But the Bulls had an answer. Just 10 minutes later, Jake Hollman levelled the score with a beautifully placed strike that found the back of the net. The Bulls continued to push for a lead, but Western United edged ahead again in the final minutes of the first half.

Peter Makrillos made his A-League debut, providing fresh legs in midfield, while Daniel De Silva also made way.

The second half saw the game heat up. Filip Kurto put in a stellar performance in goal, denying Western United time and again to keep the Bulls in the contest. The breakthrough finally came in the 78th minute when Ivan Jakoliš pounced at the perfect moment, burying the ball into the back of the net to bring the Bulls level once more.

The closing minutes were frantic, with both sides creating late chances. Jakoliš came agonisingly close to securing the win in injury time, but it wasn’t to be. The Real Western Night Out ended in a tense stalemate, with both teams sharing the points in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
