Bulls share spoils with Western United at A-Leagues UNITE Round

A thrilling six goal match for the opening Men’s match of the Inagural A-Leagues Unite Round ended in the Bulls sharing the points with Western United.

The exhilarating match, filled with twists and turns, ended in a draw between the Bulls and Western United during the A-Leagues Inaugural Unite Round at Commbank Stadium, Parramatta. Western United took the lead by scoring just two minutes into the match, but the Bulls were prepared to fight back. In the 31st minute, the Bulls broke the deadlock with an absolute screamer from Ulises Davila. Davila skillfully maneuvered through Western’s midfield and defense, finding the perfect spot to unleash a powerful shot from outside the box.

This was the spark the Bulls needed. A chance from Jed Drew and Davila in the dying minutes of the first half demonstrated that the Bulls could come together to secure a second goal and take the lead. The Bulls entered the halftime break on level terms with Western United.

The second half started strongly for the Bulls, with Davila securing a second goal in the 50th minute. He intercepted the ball from a Western defender, circled around the Western keeper, and buried the ball into the back of the net. Davila proved to be the lifeline for the Bulls. Lachlan Rose, Raphael Borges Rodrigues, Kristian Popovic, Jerry Skotadis, and Joel Bertolissio added a fresh set of legs to the match, substituting for Ali Auglah, Jed Drew, Clayton Lewis, Valere Germain, and Bulls debutant Kealey Adamson.

Filip Kurto had a fantastic match, making many clinical saves to deny Western United’s chances, such as smothering Lachlan Wales’ attempt in the 63rd minute. Western United managed to pull one back in the 74th minute and regain the lead in the 85th minute. However, that didn’t deter the Bulls or Ulises Davila. Davila claimed his third goal of the night in the final minutes of the match, sending a rocket of a header towards the goal and burying the ball into the top corner.

Ulises Davila secured his first hat-trick of his A-League career and became the Bulls’ all time leading goal-scorer across all competitions. The match ended in a 3 – 3 draw against Western United.
