Campbelltown City Council have released a bold 20-year vision for Campbelltown, that includes a water lagoon, state-of-the-art health precinct, and an upgraded home for Macarthur FC at Campbelltown Stadium.
The plan – part of the ‘reimagine Campbelltown’, will not only see Queen St turned into a ‘Flavour Lane’, featuring a rage of international cuisines, but nearby Billabong Parklands water lagoon will be an ideal spot to relax with the family. In addition to this, plans for vertical universities and a new library are just some of the potential ideas put forward by council.
Plans to upgrade Campbelltown Stadium are also part of the vision. The Leumeah LIVE idea will see the stadium precinct transformed into an integrated sports and entertainment hub, with aquatic and athletics centres, indoor sports, concert arena and football stadium. Plans to also feature first-class dining options are also included in the ‘Leumeah LIVE’ area.
Mayor of Campbelltown, George Brticevic praised the 20-year vision for the region.
“We are proactively moving forward and grabbing the future in our own two hands so that we are able to shape the types of industry and development that will create a vibrant economic future for our city and our next generation of residents.
“This master plan will be the catalyst for city-shaping projects in Campbelltown and we will continue to engage with residents so that everyone has a say in our shared future.”
Chairman of Macarthur FC, Gino Marra, welcomed the ‘Reimagine’ masterplan.
“As the major tenant of Campbelltown Stadium, the idea of a sports and entertainment precinct is great news not only for the club, but for the region. The potential of this space would be endless for Macarthur FC, to provide an even greater unique game day experience to our members and supporters.
“We know that visiting teams from across the country in the A-League competition, will be envious of Campbelltown Stadium and the city as a whole”. Marra added.
“To have a mayor and council planning so far into the future is an enormous advantage for our region. The masterplan allows us a clear vision of Campbelltown for the next 20 years and provides fantastic growth opportunities across several areas, including football, not only on a national scale with Macarthur FC, but for grassroots football also.”
The Reimagine Campbelltown masterplan is on public exhibition for three months.
