Ikonomidis: ‘We’ve Found Team Unity’
Following a thrilling draw against the Central Coast Mariners—and with finals contention on the line—the Bulls are throwing everything into preparations for their massive ANZAC Day clash with Melbourne Victory.
Ahead of the showdown, former Victory player and current Bulls striker Chris Ikonomidis spoke to the media about how the squad is gearing up for the challenge.
Reflecting on their recent performance, Ikonomidis highlighted the importance of collecting points at this critical stage of the season.
“We’re all aware of our position on the ladder. As players, our job is to focus on the next game and do everything we can to secure the three points.”
“It’s been a pretty tight year across the league. There’s not been much between the teams, so we understand how crucial every win and every set of three points really is.”
Despite a turbulent January transfer window that saw four players depart for overseas clubs, the Bulls have rallied. Ikonomidis noted the team’s growing cohesion and improving form.
“We’ve really found a lot of team unity, especially in the last four games. We’ve been scoring goals and showing great resilience—particularly given all the ins and outs we’ve experienced this season.”
Looking ahead to the clash with his former side, Ikonomidis is confident the Bulls have what it takes to secure a crucial victory.
“Victory is always a strong club, with good players and well run. I think everyone in the league recognises and respects that.”
“We’re doing everything we can as a club to prepare for tomorrow. And yeah, I’m definitely excited to face some old mates too.”
With this clash falling on ANZAC Day, it’s a very special day for the Bulls to play on. Ikonomidis spoke about the importance of this day and how it’s an honour to be playing.
“It’s a special day for people, and it’s an important day in Australia. If we can put on a spectacle for a couple of hours during that day, I think it’s fantastic.”
