Dean Bosnjak: “We Have a Good Squad and Good Players”

Ahead of our clash with Adelaide United, young gun Dean Bosnjak spoke to the media about the team’s performance against Melbourne City and his recent Young Socceroos call-up, which led to winning the AFC U20 Asian Cup.

Reflecting on last week’s loss to Melbourne City at AAMI Park, Bosnjak shared his disappointment:

“They were a good team. We knew what we were up for. I didn’t really touch the ball, but it is what it is. That’s just the way football goes. Sometimes you just can’t touch the ball. The boys knew it wasn’t good enough. We have a good squad and good quality players.”

Looking ahead to the Adelaide United match, Bosnjak remains confident that the team can secure a much-needed win:

“They’re a good team, but we’ve worked on how to press [and] other structural things. We’ll get the three points, feeling confident in the boys this week.”

He also praised Khaoui’s influence on the team:

“Khaoui brings quality. It’s good for me as a young player to learn off these more experienced players. I love the way he plays.”

On a more personal note, Bosnjak recently returned from international duty, representing the Young Socceroos at the AFC U20 Asian Cup, where Australia claimed the title. Scoring for his country against the Kyrgyz Republic was a special moment for him.

“It’s always special to win an Asian Cup and to be the first to win it in a long time or even forever. It’s a good group of boys, we’ve been together for around 18 months, and that helped us win the Asian Cup. Looking forward to the World Cup soon.”

“It’s always been my dream. The goal was good, it felt very good.”
