Bulls Kick Off the New Year with a Bang

The Bulls started the New Year in style, defeating local rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in a high-energy clash on New Year’s Day.

The match began with the Bulls taking an aggressive approach, pushing forward instead of their usual defensive stance. Within just two minutes, Arslanagic came close to scoring, but his header was skilfully saved by Wanderers goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas.

The breakthrough came soon after, as Marin Jakolis set up Jed Drew for a superb finish to give the Bulls an early lead. However, the celebration was short-lived, as Juan Mata equalised for the Wanderers in the 24th minute.

Determined to regain control, the Bulls struck back just three minutes later. Ariath Piol scored a breathtaking solo goal, weaving past multiple defenders to restore the lead. Not long after, Jed Drew dazzled the crowd again with an incredible solo effort, extending the Bulls’ advantage to 3–1 before half-time.

The second half was equally eventful. The Wanderers were reduced to 10 players after Dean Pelekanos’ yellow card was upgraded to a red following a VAR review. Despite this setback, the Wanderers managed to score their second goal, narrowing the gap.

The Bulls responded with determination, with Drew, Piol, and Jakolis combining for a brilliant chance that narrowly missed the mark. Substitutes Dean Bosnjak, Daniel De Silva, and Bernardo brought fresh energy to the team, with Bernardo coming close to scoring on several occasions.

Filip Kurto stood strong in goal, making a series of crucial saves to preserve the Bulls’ lead. As the final whistle blew, the Bulls secured a hard-fought victory, earning three points and extending their unbeaten streak into 2025.
