The Bulls broke their record at Sky Stadium, walking away with a 1-2 victory against the Wellington Phoenix on a windy afternoon in Wellington.
Determined to overcome their inability to secure a win at Sky Stadium, the Bulls started strong with captain Valère Germain opening the scoring in the 6th minute. After being awarded a penalty, Germain stepped up and slotted the ball into the back of the net on the rebound after his initial attempt was saved.
Filip Kurto delivered another stellar performance in goal, making critical saves to thwart Wellington’s attacks. However, the Bulls’ lead was short-lived as Kosta Barbarouses managed to find an equaliser in the 44th minute, bringing the teams level by half-time.
The second half saw a revitalised Bulls side, with Ariath Piol and Dean Bosnjak entering the match in the 59th minute. Their introduction injected much-needed energy into the team. Marin Jakoliš created several opportunities before the Bulls finally broke the deadlock in the 74th minute. Dean Bosnjak, scoring his first A-League goal, volleyed the ball into the net after a brilliant set-up by Jakoliš and Piol.
Substitutes Walter Scott and Liam Rose also made impactful appearances, adding fresh legs to the squad. Meanwhile, Kurto continued to shine, denying Wellington’s efforts to equalise.
With a resilient defence and precise teamwork, the Bulls maintained their lead through the final whistle, ending their winless streak at Sky Stadium. The historic match concluded with a hard-fought 1-2 victory for the Bulls, earning them three crucial points.
